FAQ - Graduates

Applications open in April each year for intake the following January/February.

To be eligible for our Graduate program you will need to be in your final year of study, or have recently completed a relevant degree.  You will also require citizenship or working rights in Australia. In addition, for the following disciplines you will need:

  • Process Engineer - Chemical or Process Engineering degree, or similar

  • Mechanical Engineer - Mechanical Engineering degree, or similar

  • Electrical Automation and Controls Engineer - Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering degree, or similar

  • Technical Services Graduate - degree qualifications in a Materials Science e.g. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Process Engineering or similar

  • Supply Chain & Logistics Graduate - Supply Chain and/or Logistics degree preferred however related courses, work experience or a demonstrated interest also considered

All positions require an undergraduate degree as a minimum.  

Successful Graduates would aim to start early February of each year.

Yes. During the Graduate Program you are directly employed by Cement Australia as an employee and you will be paid a salary through payroll in accordance with your employment contract.  You will be entitled to leave and superannuation payments.

When you commence as a Graduate with Cement Australia you will be inducted to each site you will work at, be provided with the appropriate PPE and be trained in our safety and health standards.

As a Graduate, you typically complete between two to four rotations during the two year program, depending on your discipline.  The intent of this structure is to provide you with the opportunity to gain a well-rounded understanding of the business via exposure to multiple work environments and experiences.  Each rotation is approximately six to 12 months duration, depending on the discipline, location and learning opportunities available.

Engineering Graduates can expect to gain experience across our operational sites in Gladstone, QLD and Railton, TAS, with the potential for experiences in other locations.  

Supply Chain & Logistics Graduates can expect to spend time in Brisbane, QLD, as well as other sites in NSW, QLD or VIC.

Technical Services Graduates can expect to spend time in Brisbane, QLD as well as one of our operational sites in either Gladstone, QLD or Railton, TAS.  There is also the potential for a rotation in an additional location within Australia.

Yes, Cement Australia does provide relocation assistance to Graduates if we require you to relocate to a new location for a rotation. 

At this time, Cement Australia has no formal vacation work program.
