Environmental management at Cement Australia focuses on the relationship between our operations and the environment. Our objective is to minimize adverse impacts and foster sustainable practices. This involves identifying and managing key environmental risks and ensuring full compliance with relevant laws, regulations, standards, and other obligations- ultimately supporting sustainable operations and reducing our environmental footprint.
Cement Australia's operations are subject to environmental Legislation under Commonwealth, State and Local Government Act's and subordinate regulation. Where required, environmental planning and operational approvals are issued to our operations by Federal, State and Local authorities and are managed and complied with by our sites. Site environmental approvals contain the operational requirements, times, noise and emissions limits to mitigate adverse impacts to the receiving environment. Cement Australia operates an Environmental Management System certified to ISO 14001:2015 which allows us to effectively manage environmental issues, ensure compliance, and address risks and opportunities across our operations.
The Group is registered for the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 and selected facilities report annually to the National Pollutant Inventory. Cement Australia (Holdings) Pty Ltd facilities, Railton and Fisherman's Landing (Gladstone) are liable emitters under the Safeguard Mechanism Rule. The company is in compliance with all relevant requirements of these programs.
